Welcome to my new website. I’ve been a photographer since the late 1990’s and over that time, I’ve seen a huge amount of change. In the early days, church weddings dominated, now civil ceremonies in beautiful venues often win the day. Formal line-ups have given way to free-flowing informality. Yes, we still capture a handful of family groups but, generally, our wedding clients prefer the emotion of the day to take centre stage.
And of course, the image capture has changed: medium format film cameras have given way to high end digital capture, backed up with sophisticated post production techniques. On reflection, working with film originally taught me the importance of getting the image right ‘in camera’ – basic skills of composition, exposure and focus – skills less in evidence in many of the new crop of image makers. These days, I am on a constant learning curve as cameras and software evolve. Right now, I’m blown away by Light Room 5; a post-production tool that puts so much creativity back into my hands. But, of course, throughout all these changes, one aspect remains undiminished – the great pleasure of handing over photographs that make people smile.
The aim of this blog is share some of my experiences, images and techniques. Do follow me on twitter for special offers and updates. Thanks for stopping by!
